Everyone dreams of finding that perfect pair of jeans from True Religion at a great low price, but it’s important to keep in mind one of the biggest rules when it comes to shopping. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Since the designer denim boom in the early 2000’s, the number of people selling fake pairs of designer jeans has sky rocketed. It’s easy to be fooled into thinking that you are paying a discount price for the real thing since a lot of the fakes look a lot like the pairs of True Religion jeans you see in reputable stores. So, how are you to protect yourself from being fooled into buying a non-authentic pair?
It’s a lot easier to spot a fake than you might think. There are always several small tip offs that the educated eye will be able to catch immediately. Here, PoshStyle will take you through a few of those details so that you will become a smarter and more educated shopper.
1. Inside Tag :

The top of the first interior tag will say “TRUE RELIGION” in red text with “BRAND JEANS” stitched below it. The letter J in “JEANS” should dip slightly below the rest of the letters. Under this line is the U shaped True Religion Brand Jeans logo with “Made in USA” and the size number stitched below. The reverse side of this tag features information about the style of True Religion Brand Jeans and care information. It includes the RN number, CA number, material content, and care instructions.
While older styles don’t have security strips, all new styles do. The security strip is located on the top of the reverse side of this tag and is silver. Under magnification, you will be able to read “TRUE RELIGION BRAND JEANS” in the security strip.
The most common mistakes made with fake True Religion Brand Jeans are with the wording, letter size, and format on this tag.
2. Back Tag :

There are two different back tags that are used on True Religion Brand Jeans. One is fabric and the other is leather.
The fabric tags on True Religion Brand Jeans are white with red and navy blue stitching. This is probably the most well known tag from True Religion Brand Jeans. This tag should feature the Buddha and the phrases “TRUE RELIGION BRAND JEANS”, “WORLD TOUR”, “FASHION FOR THE SENSES”, “SECTION”, “ROW”, and “SEAT”. There are several things to check for when looking for authentic True Religion Brand Jeans. First, the Buddha should have clearly defined fingers. It should also appear as though he has a lazy eye due to the style of the stitching. After the word “SECTION”, the style name of the jeans should be stitched in capital letters. On True Religion Brand Jeans for women, there will be empty spaces after the words “ROW” and “SEAT”. On True Religion Brand Jeans for men, there will be a number after the word “ROW” and either number 33 or 34 after the word “SEAT”.
The leather tags on True Religion Brand Jeans are leather with red stitching. These tags should be substantial and made from smooth leather. They should not feel thin or papery. This tag should feature the Buddha and the phrases “TRUE RELIGION BRAND JEANS”, “WORLD TOUR”, “FASHION FOR THE SENSES”, “SECTION”, and “SEAT”. As with the fabric tags, the style name of the jeans should be stitched in capital letters after the word “SECTION”.
3. Stitched Horseshoe on Back Pockets :

True Religion Brand Jeans are famous for the Horseshoe stitching on the back pockets. This is one of the easiest ways to spot a pair of fake True Religion Brand Jeans. The Horseshoe shape should fill up the entire back pocket and be in proportion to the pocket size. If the back pocket has a flap, the Horseshoe shape will go underneath the flap. Never over. On Heritage styles of True Religion Brand Jeans, the Horseshoe shape will be round but will still be even and in proportion. The stitching will be even and precise on the entire Horseshoe shape.
4. Rear Pockets and Coin Pockets :
On True Religion Brand Jeans with back flap pockets, the flaps should always be curved and meet at the center in a sharp point. They will never be cut straight. The flap on the coin pocket should also have the same curve to it’s shape and the same point at the center.

Still not sure if your jeans are real or fake? Send the folks at True Religion an e-mail with pictures of the tags and the information on them. Or, stop by a local and reputable boutique. They should know what to look for and are usually more than happy to help.

Everyone dreams of finding that perfect pair of jeans from Rock & Republic at a great low price, but it’s important to keep in mind one of the biggest rules when it comes to shopping. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Since the designer denim boom in the early 2000’s, the number of people selling fake pairs of designer jeans has sky rocketed. It’s easy to be fooled into thinking that you are paying a discount price for the real thing since a lot of the fakes look a lot like the pairs of Rock & Republic jeans you see in reputable stores.

New styles of Rock & Republic jeans have two inside tags. One is the size tag and the other is the care tag.
The size tag is usually located directly on top of the care tag of Rock & Republic jeans. On older styles, it is located on the left side. This tag features the Rock & Republic logo, the phrase “Digitally mastered in the USA”, the size number stitched (not printed), and a security strip. However, not all styles come with a security strip, so this is not an immediate tip off of a fake pair of Rock & Republic jeans. On styles with the security strip, magnification should reveal serial numbers.
The care tag of Rock & Republic jeans features the Rock & Republic logo, the phrase “Digitally mastered in the USA”, style number, cut number, and the fabric content. Some styles also feature a style code, style number, and wash code. The RN number and CA number are on the reverse side of this tag. All of this information will be printed, not stitched, on this tag in black or red. Unlike other designer denim brands, Rock & Republic does not use smooth material for this tag. Instead, it should feel rather rough or bumpy.
2. Grommets/Rivets :

Grommets, also known as rivets, are those little metal button-like pieces stuck through the fabric of your jeans. They are typically located near pockets. The back of Rock & Republic rivets will be smooth and flat, with back to back R’s engraved on the inside. The engraving on the rivets will never be raised.
The buttons on Rock & Republic jeans will feature the same back to back R’s in the middle of the button, with “Rock & Republic” engraved around it. The logo’s on the buttons will be raised.
3. Back Pocket Detail :
Rock & Republic is well known for offering crystal embellishments on the back pockets of their denim. Because they use high quality Swarovski crystals, it’s fairly easy to spot the difference between an authentic pair from Rock & Republic and a fake. The crystals will always be shiny and reflective and will never appear dull. They will be placed evenly within the detail on the pocket and fill the entire area of the embellished logo. They will also not fall off of the Rock & Republic jeans.
The R that is on the back pocket of most styles has very sharp and straight edges. The end of the leg of the R is also exaggerated and should curve upwards at the end. The shape of the R logo on Rock & Republic jeans never changes, so once you are familiar with the R on an authentic pair, it will be easier to spot fakes.

Still not sure if your jeans are real or fake? Send the folks at Rock & Republic an e-mail with pictures of the tags and the information on them. Or, stop by a local and reputable boutique. They should know what to look for and are usually more than happy to help.

Everyone dreams of finding that perfect pair of jeans from Citizens of Humanity at a great low price, but it’s important to keep in mind one of the biggest rules when it comes to shopping. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Since the designer denim boom in the early 2000’s, the number of people selling fake pairs of designer jeans has sky rocketed. It’s easy to be fooled into thinking that you are paying a discount price for the real thing since a lot of the fakes look a lot like the pairs of Citizens of Humanity jeans you see in reputable stores.
1. Inside Tags & Tag Order :

On all new pairs of Citizens of Humanity jeans, there should be two tags present on the inside of the jeans.
The top tag will have the Citizens of Humanity H logo with “by Jerome Dahan” stitched below it. This tag also features The size of the jeans, the phrases “Made in the U.S.A.” and “Imported Fabric”, as well as a metallic security strip. This strip is located on the bottom of the top tag. The metallic security strip is not the same on every authentic pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans. The different types that you will see are : a silver and flat security strip, a silver and raised security strip, a white and flat security strip, or a while and raised security strip. Depending on what security strip is on the top tag, the size number can look slightly different.
The bottom tag has information about the pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans. This includes the material content, care instructions, cut number, and style number. These tags should be soft and silky feeling. While they have been known to make spelling mistakes on these labels, keep a close eye for other problems.
2. Grommets/Rivets :

Grommets, also known as rivets, are those little metal button-like pieces stuck through the fabric of your jeans. They are typically located near pockets. There are two different rivets used on authentic jeans from Citizens of Humanity. One has an H logo (like the one on the back pockets) engraved into the metal. The other has COBRAX ORIGINAL engraved into the metal. Both will be stamped onto the back of the rivet or button. The back of the rivets will be smooth. It is possible for one pair of jeans to have both the H rivets and the COBRAX ORIGINAL rivets. When this is the case, the pair of jeans will usually have the H stamped on the back of the button on the fly and all other rivets will be stamped with COBRAX ORIGINAL.
It should also be said that this is not a definite indicator of authentic Citizens of Humanity jeans because a lot of fakes have the correct rivets.
3. Stitched “H” on Back Pocket :
Citizens of Humanity jeans are well known for their back pocket “H” stitching. On authentic pairs, the H is in proportion with the pocket as a whole. The tail of the H will always end just below the little tag on the back right pocket. On many fake pairs, they miss this detail and the tail of the H will end above the tag or be stitched going into the tag.

Still not sure if your jeans are real or fake? Send the folks at Citizens of Humanity an e-mail with pictures of the tags and the information on them. Or, stop by a local and reputable boutique. They should know what to look for and are usually more than happy to help.

Everyone dreams of finding that perfect pair of jeans from 7 For All Mankind at a great low price, but it’s important to keep in mind one of the biggest rules when it comes to shopping. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Since the designer denim boom in the early 2000’s, the number of people selling fake pairs of designer jeans has sky rocketed. It’s easy to be fooled into thinking that you are paying a discount price for the real thing since a lot of the fakes look a lot like the pairs of 7 For All Mankind jeans you see in reputable stores.
1. Inside Tags and Tag Format :

7 For All Mankind is very particular about their tags and they are always placed in a specific order. There should always be 3 tags layered one over another.
The top tag is a small tag with the size printed on it. 7 For All Mankind, like most designer denim brands, uses European sizing. This means that the numbers will be in inches (like 25 or 27) instead of sizes. This is actually the tag where it is easiest to spot a fake pair. On authentic pair’s, the number 2 on size tags have a slightly rounded top and a small curve on the down stroke. The number 3 on size tags are all flat on top and not slightly rounded. (Note : On new pairs with a brown tag beneath the size tag, the rule about the number 3 does not apply.) The number 9 on size tags does not have a curved stem, but is straight.
The middle tag contains all the information about the pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans you are purchasing. It features the 7 For All Mankind logo, style number, fabric content, cut number, and the stitched phrases, “Made in U.S.A. OF IMPORTED FABRIC”, and, “SEE CARE ON REVERSE”. The easiest way to spot fakes with this tag is in the style and cut numbers. Both of these numbers should be printed on the tag, not stitched like all the other text. On some new styles, the cut and style numbers are not located on this tag, but on a white tag underneath.
The bottom tag is yellow in color and features a 7 For All Mankind logo, metallic security strip, and serial numbers on the back. When under magnification, the security strip will show small black or red 7 For All Mankind logos.
Many styles also come with a white barcode sticker that is located on the inside of the waistband. These stickers have rounded corners and feature information about the specific pair of jeans. Featured information is the style number, color, cut number, lot reference number, size, and a barcode number. The easiest way to spot a fake using this tag is to look at the number 0. On authentic pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans, the 0 will have a diagonal line through it.
2. Grommets/Rivets :

Grommets, also known as rivets, are those little metal button-like pieces stuck through the fabric of your jeans. They are typically located near pockets. These will be stamped with a 7 on the inside of the jeans. The rivets should be completely smooth on the inside and the number 7 is never stamped in black.
3. Cut Number :
Every pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans comes with a cut number. This cut number refers to the batch number listed on the middle tag. There might be several pairs of jeans with the same cut number, but there are never mass quantities made with the same number. One of the easiest ways to figure out if your 7 For All Mankind jeans are fakes is to search for this cut number on eBay. This doesn’t necessarily tell you if the pair you have is fake, but it’s a good indicator. If more than a handful of jeans show up in the results, odds are that the cut number has been used to make fake pairs. There are some websites that keep lists of known authentic cut numbers. http://www.no-fake-jeans.de.vu/ is one of them. Search for your cut number in the list.

Still not sure if your jeans are real or fake? Send the folks at 7 For All Mankind an e-mail with pictures of the tags and the information on them. Or, stop by a local and reputable boutique. They should know what to look for and are usually more than happy to help.
